Equality, Diversity & Access
TQUK is committed to providing qualifications and services that are fair, inclusive, and accessible to all learners and apprentices.
Our approach is designed to ensure that no individual faces unnecessary barriers to entry, participation, assessment or achievement, and that all learners are treated with respect, dignity, and fairness throughout their learning journey.
This policy applies to learners and apprentices enrolled on TQUK‑approved regulated qualifications or units, as well as training providers and apprentices registered with TQUK for end‑point assessment. It also sets clear expectations for recognised centres and training providers delivering our qualifications.
Our responsibilities
We review the Equality and Diversity policy annually as part of our internal evaluation processes, and update it as necessary to reflect best practice, regulatory guidance, or feedback from our customers and stakeholders. Any changes are approved by TQUK’s Executive Team, ensuring that our approach remains robust, up to date, and aligned with regulatory requirements. The full policy can be found here.
Our commitment to equality and diversity
TQUK is committed to complying with all relevant equality and diversity legislation. We work to ensure that our qualifications, assessments, and services do not disadvantage learners who share protected characteristics such as age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, race, nationality, marital status, or ethnic origin.
All TQUK staff have responsibilities regarding equality and diversity.
Inclusive qualification design and assessment
When developing qualifications, TQUK carefully considers whether any feature of a qualification or assessment could disadvantage certain groups of learners. Any entry requirements or barriers are only included where they are directly related to the purpose of the qualification and are clearly explained and justified.
Assessments are designed to remove unjustified barriers and allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and skills fairly. This includes making appropriate considerations for learners and apprentices with disabilities.
Expectations of centres and training providers
Recognised centres and training providers are expected to share TQUK’s commitment to equality and diversity. They must ensure that all learners and apprentices have equal access to training and assessment and that discrimination does not occur. Centres are required to maintain their own equality and diversity policies, apply them across all assessment sites, and monitor their effectiveness.
Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
TQUK monitors the impact of its services through learner and apprentice data, feedback, and information relating to access arrangements or special considerations. Where issues are identified, they are reviewed by the Quality and Compliance Teams, and improvements are made where necessary. Information about our reviews can be shared with regulators upon request.
Through this commitment, TQUK aims to provide a fair, supportive, and inclusive qualification experience for all customers.
